Field Projects at Artist-Run, Miami Beach

Participating Artists: Lisa Dillin, Patrick McDonough, Barbara Polster

A full-scale exercise is an emergency preparedness procedure that aspires to be as close to the real thing as possible. It asks participants to anticipate the future by imitating the behaviors, relationships, and communication strategies it might require. Full-Scale Exercise is an installation of work by Lisa Dillin, Patrick McDonough, and Barbara Polster that asks the present to anticipate the future by considering the recent (and not so recent) past. It explores the collapse of the distinction between the real and the artificial, between nature and human nature. It accepts that there is no turning back.

Artist-Run is presented by Tiger Strikes Asteroid in partnership with SATELLITE. The project focuses on the artist-run space, a thriving alternate model of support, exchange, and community to the established commercial market. Artist-Run will bring together nearly 40 of these initiatives in a repurposed hotel.
